Hyderabad: The proposed Logistic Park at Batasingaram may be further delayed as the private agency which bagged the project has walked out of it. Officials claimed that the firm had been demanding Rs 5 crore additionally andincrease of the lease period by another five yearsin addition to the agreed 33 years. The proposed project will be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore.

The Logistic Park at Batasingaram is aimed to provide infrastructure facilities for efficient logistics managements. It will have an integrated one stop facility for freight operators, third party logistic service providers, cargo handling companies, truck drivers, vehicle testing centre and warehousing parking.

According to highly places sources in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the Batasingaram Logistic Park will be further delayed as the private agency has locked horns over the increase of estimates and lease period. The contractor, who agreed to take up the project after the tender process, is now demanding additional Rs 5 crore and additional five years lease period. The State government gave its nod to the project in October last year but the HMDA is yet to begin the work.

When asked about the project, HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said that the Logistic Park at Batasingaram would begin from July. He said that the second bidder who participated in the tender process is ready to take up the project. He said the project would be handed over to the bidder and work will be started within two weeks.

Chiranjeevulu also said that the HMDA had already started fencing work at MangalapallyPark. He said the two logistic parks - one each at Batasingaram and Mangalapally - had been taken under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The BatasingaramPark, which is spread over 40 acres at Batasingaram village on Vijayawada Highway, will be constructed at Rs 35 crore, whereas the MangalapallyPark, spread over 22 acres at Mangalapally village on Nagarjuna Sagar highway, will be constructed with Rs 20 crore.
