Hyderabad: Goa IT Minister Rohan Khaute and Goa IT Secretary Ameya Abhayankar on Wednesday visited the Command Control Centre in Civil Supplies Bhavan. Civil Supplies Commissioner C V Anand explained about the performance of the Command Control Centre to the visiting dignitaries.
During the meeting with the Commissioner and other Civil Supplies officials, Rohan Khaute said, “It is a much remarkable move by the Telangana government, which has taken major steps to curb illegal transport of the essential commodities by using Information Technology to a great extent.
Mainly, transport of ration rice going to black market has been stopped through constant monitoring from the Command Control Centre operating from the Civil Supplies Bhavan. Removing irregularities in Public Distribution System (PDS) and providing essential commodities to the eligible beneficiaries in the meantime by using technology is very much appreciable.”
“Commodity transportation, computerisation of all transactions, implementing E-PoS machines in ration shops, electronic weighing machines, GPS tracking of transport vehicles, CC cameras at godowns, introducing portability system which enables the consumers to avail essential commodities from anywhere as per their choice and availability, purchasing paddy from farmers and making payments through Online Procurement Management System (OPMS), Financial Management System (FMS) and EPDS to enter monthly details of commodities supplied to ration shops achieved huge success and the Telangana Civil Supplies Department, which is in the forefront in using the information technology deserves kudos,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Civil Supplies Commissioner said, “By using technology, we will get transparency in the system, accountability will increase and we can remove corruption. IT wing has introduced in civil supplies department. Some 1,700 CC cameras are going to be installed in 171 godowns all over the State and Command Control Centres are being set up in District Joint Collector Offices.”
By monitoring the transportation of rice from the Command Control Centre, illegal transaction of rice has decreased. In view of cashless transactions, e-PoS machines would be introduced in ration shops all over the State. It would be completed in two to three months. There were 2.75 PDS beneficiaries, whose Aadhaar data had been linked to ration cards, Anand added.
