Hyderabad: Jharkhand Food and Public Distribution Secretary Vijay Kumar Choube praised Telangana Civil Supplies Corporation for their online paddy purchase and online payments to the farmers directly into their accounts. It is possible by entering the entire details of procurement from farmers in to the data base. Farmers are able to get the Minimum Support Price assured by the government in time and it helps in removing the role of middlemen.

Vijay Kumar Choube visited Command Control Centre in Civil Supplies Bhavan on Thursday and met Civil Supplies Corporation Command Control Officials. By interacting with Officials he discussed the managing process of ground level paddy purchasing. During the discussion he said that he came to see Command Controls performance in stopping the illegal transport of PD Rice. Command Control Centre in Telangana Civil Supplies Department is very good. In Jharkhand state also we will introduce digital weighing machine in all the ration shops, he said.

Choube said, “in Jharkhand annually 40 Lakh Metric Tons of paddy is produced. The millers directly purchase the entire paddy. From last three years the Jharkhand government is purchasing only 2 to 3 Lakh Metric Tons of paddy. Government is planning to purchase the entire paddy from farmers. In Telangana state paddy purchase system is very good. We will send a delegation to Telangana Civil Supplies Corporation to know the tasks and policies and it will help to implement in our state.”

Telangana Civil Supplies Corporation Officials explained that in Rabi season Civil Supplies Corporation purchased 37.54 Lakh Metric Tons of paddy worth of Rs. 5500 crores from 7 Lakh farmers through 3100 paddy purchase centers. All the payments to farmers were made online. In Kharif 16.50 LMT of paddy was purchased and Rs. 2400 crores payments were made to farmers account directly through online.

From purchasing to payment every transaction is been sent to farmers through SMS. Corporation main aim to purchase paddy online is to remove brokers, for this Tabs are given to each purchase centre. Details of farmers selling paddy, crop area and yield, Aadhaar Card, Bank account and other details are uploaded in OPMS. These details are directly received by Corporation which will get the exact yield of the farmer. The Civil Supplies manager perceives the details and funds are released to his ID which are transferred from banks to farmers account directly through online.
