Hyderabad: With senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu being nominated for the post of Vice President, party’s general secretary Ram Madhav is likely to play a prominent role in the affairs of the party in both the Telugu States.

The BJP, which is looking towards the southern states to improve its tally in the next elections, feel that the party units in both the States will grow if Ram Madhav is given the charge of State affairs in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It may be mentioned here that apart from the two Telugu states, the BJP is paying attention on Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

To begin with, Ram Madhav will attend the State executive committee meeting of Telangana BJP in Warangal scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. Sources in the party said the BJP general secretary, from now onwards, would be attending the party programmes regularly. Coming from RSS background, Ram Madhav is seen as a good strategist.

He was instrumental in the BJP getting into an alliance with PDP in Jammu and Kashmir. Though Ram Madhav has been attending the BJP meetings in the recent times, this would be the first time that he would virtually be the observer at the State committee meeting in Warangal. A senior leader in the party said that national president Amit Shah had already discussed the plans with Ram Madhav for strengthening the party in both the Telugu speaking States.

Sources said that Amit Shah would be visiting Hyderabad in September and by that time Ram Madhav would be able to give his feedback on the party affairs to the national president. Shah has been advocating the party leaders to go into villages and fight against the anti-people policies of the TRS government.

Shah said he would visit the State once in every three months to take stock of the activities of the party leadership. During this interim period, Ram Madhav would be monitoring the implementation of the directives given by the Central leadership in both the States and would also resolve internal differences so that the party can emerge stronger by 2019.
