Hyderabad: Following the arrest of Dutch national Mike Kaminga, the Excise & Enforcement department has intensified the raids and search operations in different parts of the Hyderabad. Gachibowli, Madhapur, Uppal and Ghatkesar are some of the areas that have now come under the radar of the authorities.
According to sources, Mike was in contact with more than a thousand youngsters in the city. The excise and police officials who tried to measure gravity of the drug menace in the city have increased raids and search operations.
The targeted locations apart from pubs and clubs are now the residences and offices of the contacts of the Mike Kaminga most of which are on the outskirts of the city.
The 33-year old Dutch national who was also heading a company here, was found to be key person involved in supply of drugs and psychotropic substances to persons working in IT companies.
“Raids and search operations are being conducted in different places in city,” said an official.
The SIT officials on Thursday questioned two alleged drug suppliers Saaed Nazir and Mubeen in a separate room in the SIT office while the film actress Mumaith Khan was being quizzed by women officers.
The officials hope that they would be able to gather more important information on Friday when actor Ravi Teja who is also known as Mass Maharaja in Tollywood would be questioned by the SIT.
SIT officials feel that Ravi Teja is one of the key persons to be questioned from the film industry after Puri Jagannath in the ongoing probe into the drug case.
According to sources, Ravi Teja had spent over four hours consulting his advocates on the possible questions that would be asked by the SIT and how to handle them. The SIT on the other hand is getting ready with about 100 questions based on the information they had gathered from Puri, Tarun, Navdeep, Charmee and other actors.
The SIT had also gathered some evidence based on the information given by Zeeshan one of the accused in drug peddling case. Zeeshan is said to have told the SIT officials that he had procured drugs from South Africa and supplied the same to Ravi Teja and some others through the actor. The SIT later proposes to question the driver of Ravi Teja and others.
In the meantime, actress Mumaith Khan was questioned by a 4-member team of officials at Abkari Bhavan, the office of Prohibition and Excise Department, around 10 am. Contrary to the normal practice, the SIT refused to take blood, hair and nail samples of Mumaith though she volunteered to give. According to officials they told her that they would do so at appropriate time.
During the questioning that lasted about six hours, she was being questioned on whether she takes drugs and whether she has any links with Calvin Mascrenhas, the alleged kingpin of the racket.
They also asked her why she left Tollywood and had gone to Mumbai, for how long she has been a friend of Puri Jagannath and Charmee, whether she goes to pubs, what was she doing before getting introduce to Tollywood, her weekend activities etc. They also wanted to know why she had to go for shooting to foreign locations while she was an item girl.
SIT sources say that after the ongoing questioning of the people from film industry was over, they would assess the situation. They do not rule out the possibility of arresting some of them if need be.
