It could be a reality when a tourist can glide across a skyway over Hussainsagar from Sailing Club to Lumbini Park enjoying the picturesque view of the Twin Cities. It would allow the tourist to have a close look at monolithic Buddha statue in midst of the lake.

And, tourists could descend a few feet into the water to have a glimpse of aquatic life in an underwater aquarium. It all depends on the outcome a feasible report which has been approved in principle last week by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao. According to the plans, the ropeway is to attract foreign tourists besides domestic one.
The ropeway ride would give tourists an opportunity to have a close look of monolithic Buddha statue. “This could draw international tourists, especially from South Asian countries where Buddhism is followed,” said an official to The Hans India.
HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said that the development activities in and around Hussainsagar will help in increasing tourist inflow.
A senior HMDA official said that the department is planning to take up development around Hussainsagar in a big way. In tune with this policy, a theme park and two islands would be developed for the recreation purposes. The theme park is planned between Jalavihar and PV Ghat.
The islands of one acre each between Sanjeevaiah Park and Jalavihar, which would be ready by end of this year. To attract domestic tourists, a laser show is planned by December 31 this year. This would become a weekend attraction to draw citizens to the lake after sunset.
