Hyderabad: Organising an Atmeeya Sammelan by Governor E S L Narasimhan for the staff of the Raj Bhavan has led to speculations in political circles that the State would soon be getting a new Governor. It may be mentioned here that a hint to this effect was also given by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao while winding up his recent visit to New Delhi.
The Governor, recalling some of the welfare measures that were taken up for the staff of the Raj Bhavan, said he had pursued the issue of new staff quarters for Raj Bhavan employees with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who readily agreed and sanctioned the budget for the same in spite of constraints, as the old quarters became dilapidated and unfit for use.
The Governor said the staff quarters had been constructed in a record time of 11 months well before the scheduled completion date. He complimented the staff members for their support at the time of demolition of old quarters and staying outside for the interim period.
Narasimhan said the Raj Bhavan staff quarters had been named as ‘Samruddhi’ so that the staff members and their families lived in peace and prosperity. He said along with staff quarters, a model school had also been constructed with digital classrooms, which is a first in the city and there is a huge demand for admission to the Raj Bhavan Government School.
Governor’s wife Vimala Narasimhan, speaking on the occasion, said they lived in a small accommodation in New Delhi for a long time and that it was planned to construct two-bedroom flats for all staff members of the Raj Bhavan, so that they could live happily and peacefully with their families.
She said that all staff and their family members should ensure that the entire Raj Bhavan quarters premises was kept in clean condition at all times the same way they kept their residential premises.
Principal Secretary to the Governor Harpreet Singh, in his speech, said the staff members of the Raj Bhavan should not aspire for jobs in Raj Bhavan for their children but ensure that their children go for higher studies and get much higher jobs.
Children of staff members presented cultural programmes and enthralled the audience on the occasion.
The Governor presented mementos to the participants of cultural programmes. Arjun Rao, Joint Secretary, M Krishna, Deputy Secretary and Vidya Sagar, Liaison Officer also participated in the programme.
