Hyderabad: State BJP official spokesman Krishna Saagar Rao on Thursday alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had twisted the comments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on giving 12 per cent reservations to Muslims.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Rao said that the comments made by the Chief Minister were against democratic norms and did not match his stature. He said that disclosing the details of a private conversation that he had with the Prime Minister was totally unethical. He alleged that the Chief Minister twisted the words of the Prime Minister out of context for cheap political gains.

Rao said, “BJP is against reservations in jobs and educational institutions on the basis of religion and this has been made clear several times by national BJP president Amit Shah and Telangana BJP president K Laxman. The Chief Minister should not distort facts for narrow political gains,” said Rao.

Calling the press conference of the Chief Minister as a ‘Khichidi conference’, Krishna Saagar Rao said that Chandrashekar Rao was trying to create confusion and unrest among the people of the State. “He is confused and now he is trying to confuse others. He comes out once in a blue moon from his farmhouse and organises a press conference for over two-and-a-half hours, which no other leader in this world does,” said Rao.

Chandrashekar Rao should clarify whether he spoke as the Chief Minister of a State or the TRS president, he said adding that even an ordinary BJP worker would not talk in such a manner. The BJP leader called the Chief Minister as a leader craving for attention and diverting the attention of people from the problems being faced the State.

“Yesterday, eight arrested persons including dalits were released from jail in Nerella. As this would become big news and the news would be highlighted in the newspapers, the Chief minister tried to divert the attention of people and tried to have entire coverage about his press conference,” said Krishna Saagar Rao. Rao also took exception to Chandrashekar Rao’s comments that Ramnath Kovind was chosen as the Presidential candidate only on his advice.
