Hyderabad: Nearly 5,600 government schools in the State would get a grant of Rs 50,000 each for improving the laboratory equipment, providing periodicals and supplying drinking water as the Central government has granted Rs 28 crore under the Rashtriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).

The funds can also be utilised for drinking water, electricity charges, providing cable connections and on internet charges and on the expenditure relating to digital class rooms, etc.

Out of the Rs 50,000 granted to each school, Rs 20,000 could be spent for laboratory related equipment, Rs 5,000 for periodicals and books and Rs 25,000 for drinking water, electricity charges and internet cable connections, Wifi and LAN equipment, social kits for ninth and tenth class students.

The RMSA has recommended a list of laboratory equipment which the school managements can buy.
The headmasters should buy books, periodicals, newspapers and school magazines as mentioned in the catalogues of KV Schools, National Book Trust, Central Book Trust and Telugu Academy.

The funds released for drinking water, cables and internet connection should be spent on a monthly basis and the headmasters of the respective schools should ensure that there were no complaints regarding the supply of drinking water and running of digital class rooms.

The headmasters should make payments by cash if the amount is below Rs 500 and through a cheque if the amount is more than Rs 500.

The payments should be made based on the resolutions of school development and management
committees.
