Hyderabad: Nehru Centenary Tribal Museum curator Devenapally Satyanarayana voiced that most of the painting forms were on the brink of extinction. He said efforts have been started to retain and revive those forgotten forms. A special Tribal Art Gallery was established in the Museum premises and these arts were fantastic in nature and were the true representation of the typical tribal culture in Telugu States, he added.

“We have constructed special huts belonging to various Tribes and roped in Tribal artists to draw the arts,” he said. There have been several schools of art belonging to various Tribals which have their unique identity, he added.Madhubani, Rajasthani, Gondi, Miniature, Kagra and others are a few art forms that have been crafted in the Tribal Art Gallery, he said.

He said Nirmal and Cheriyal forms of art were more popular in Telangana region and were termed as Folk Paintings. “We are especially working to revive the particularly vulnerable tribal art forms and more work would be done in this regard in coming days”, he added.
