Foot soldiers of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) including sanitation, electrical, urban biodiversity, entomology and other wings ensured the successful immersion of the Ganesha idols. The sanitation wing lifted about 2,000 metric tonnes of garbage since yesterday, while the other departments ensured safety of devotees.

Hyderabad: Foot soldiers of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) including sanitation, electrical, urban biodiversity, entomology and other wings ensured the successful immersion of the Ganesha idols. The sanitation wing lifted about 2,000 metric tonnes of garbage since yesterday, while the other departments ensured safety of devotees.

The GHMC has deployed 10,000 workers from sanitation, entomology and other departments concerned for transportation of garbage waste and waste produce from animals and also generated during the Ganesh procession. The workers have been deployed for 3 shifts on 24x7 days . Nearly 4,041 metric tons of waste generated for Bakrid festival and also 2,069 metric tons of garbage for Ganesh immersion procession generated has been lifted till Wednesday.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said that the GHMC sanitation, electrical, urban biodiversity, and entomology wings have worked 24x7 days, which was highly laudable. He said that without the efforts of foot soldiers, this incredible would not have been achieved. He also thanked the citizens for showing their responsibility and joining hands with the GHMC to make the programme a grand success.

He thanked Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee and other representatives of the committees and also the officials of all government departments who have rendered their best services day and night to ensure a safe clean and happy Ganesh festival and Ganesh immersion which is completed in a record time.

GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy said the Ganesh festival was conducted successfully and peacefully with active cooperation of all the departments and expressed gratitude to all those who have extended cooperation for making the festival a grand success.
