Hyderabad: Sub-Inspector and constable were injured after two groups of the same community clashed during Ganesh procession in Gandipet mandal. Beer bottles, stones were hurled during the minor skirmish, which was contained and later, some of the suspects were taken into custody.

The incident took place during the procession of Ganesh at Bandlaguda’s Kalimandir area under Gandipet mandal in Ranga Reddy district. Despite policemen making failproof arrangements for peaceful immersion programme, the groups belonging to former Sarpanch, Gnaneshwar and his aide the existing Sarpanch Hari Krishna (TRS) clashed with another group belonging to Sagar Goud and Mahender Goud (Congress) whose father also served as Sarpanch earlier.

According to police, they were allocated routes on both sides of the road and police monitored the situation by standing in the middle of the road at the divider. However, they clashed with each other and police were successful in containing the situation, but sustained injuries to limbs. In a different incident, which took place in S R Nagar police station limits, a man name Raju alleged injured a SPO constable Appa Rao. Later, he was arrested by the S R Nagar police, following investigation.
