Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to poet, freedom fighter and activist of Telangana Kaloji Narayan Rao on his 103rd birth anniversary on Saturday.

The official celebrations, held at Ravindra Bharathi, were attended by Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, ex-Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, TRS MLA Rasmayi Balakishan and other dignitaries. On the occassion, Kaloji Narayana Rao Award was conferred to famous poet from Khammam R. Seetharam. The Award comprised of Rs. 101,116 cash and a citation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister recalled his interactions with Kaloji Narayan Rao during Telangana statehood movement. He said he was privileged to have worked with a person who used to communicate through poetry on almost all occasions.

Swamy Goud, in his speech, said that Kaloji Narayana Rao had excelled the art of expressing the grievances of common man through his poetry.
