Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday said the JAC would take up series of protests along with political parties against the undemocratic Farmer’s Coordination Committees and demand the withdrawal of GO 39.

The JAC on Friday organised an all-party meeting which was attended by the leaders of Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Kodandaram said all the opposition parties have opposed the GO 39 and formed a joint action plan. He said they would meet the Governor E S L Narasimhan demanding his intervention in the Farmer Coordination Committees.

He further said they would take up protests at the office of Agriculture Commissioner. Protests would be taken up in all the Assembly constituencies on September 11 and at the District Collectorates on October 2 and a series of meetings would be organised State wide against the government’s decision, he added.

There would be maha dharna in front of Gram Panchayat office on October 2. He alleged that the GO would bring the Patel Patwari system back in Telangana.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had no respect towards the local bodies. He alleged that though he is an MLA, the TRS leader is forming a committee in his constituency without his knowledge.

The agriculture produce has decreased to 50 per cent and the government had not released a single rupee for minimum support price, he alleged.

BJP president K Laxman said the government had brought undemocratic GO. He said the TRS does not have committees at village level and hence they want to use the farmers committees to gain politically in the next elections.

He alleged that the TRS government was diverting the funds released by Centre for agriculture. These committees are to distribute money during elections, he alleged.
