Hyderabad: BJP National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao on Sunday advised State government to emulate neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka States where Hyderabad Liberation Day is celebrated at official level.

Speaking to media persons here, Muralidhar Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was not agreeing to celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day to appease the Muslims community. However, he said KCR was wrongly trying to link the Muslims of the State and the erstwhile ruler Nizam. He said the Liberation Day celebrations were not against the Muslims of the State. He said both Karnataka and Maharashtra have been celebrating the event at official level for several decades and so far no Muslim objected to the same.

The BJP leader said it was the same KCR who demanding officials celebration of the occasion during Telangana statehood movement. However, after coming to power he changed his stand due to the fear of MIM.

Muralidhar Rao said that the BJP workers would organise protest at government offices on September 17 demanding official celebrations. He said a massive public meeting will also be held in Nizamabad which would be addressed by Union Home
Minister Rajnath Singh.
