Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in Telangana during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Friday. While there was seven cm of rainfall in Maganoor, in Mahbubnagar district, five cm of rain each occurred in Adilabad, Kondurg and Makthal (both in Mahbubnagar), the Met department bulletin said. There were heavy showers in Adilabad, Mahbubnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad, Khammam and Ranga Reddy districts, thanks to the normal southwest monsoon.

According to the bulletin, while there was four cm of rain in Aswapuram in Khammam district, three cm each occurred in Doma (Ranga Reddy), Alampur (Mahbubnagar) and Kothagudem. Two cm of rain each occurred in Jakranpalle (Nizamabad), Dummugudem (Khammam), Jurala Project (Mahbubnagar), Gandeed (Ranga Reddy), Bheemgal (Nizamabad), Kosgi (Mahbubnagar), Madhira (Khammam) and Ghattu (Mahbubnagar).

The heavy rainfall was attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and its neighbourhood, which now lies over the southwest Madhya Pradesh. Another upper air cyclonic circulation over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha extends up to 5.8 km above the mean sea level. The forecast said light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at many/a few places in Telangana from September 16 to 18. No large change during the subsequent three days is the weather outlook.
