Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was reportedly furious on the alleged incidents of burning Bathukamma sarees at some places in the State on Monday. He directed the District Collectors concerned to submit reports on such unlawful incidents and file cases against those who resorted to burning the sarees and leaders behind such vandalism.

The Chief Minister said to have enquired about the provocative incidents at Chalgal in Jagtial, Sattupally in Khammam and some petty incidents at a few places in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over the way the Opposition leaders used social media to blame the State government on the saree distribution programme.

He also reportedly expressed serious concern over some TV channels for frequently airing the scenes of burning sarees and fighting among the womenfolk. The Chief Minister sought to know about the facts behind the incidents of sarees burning, protests and fighting among women at some places.

Textiles Minister K T Rama Rao informed the Chief Minister about the incidents orchestrated by the hostile Congress and Telugu Desam Party leaders. Chandrashekar Rao also spoke to Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar on telephone and inquired about the saree distribution programme in the district. Ajay reportedly informed the Chief Minister that the women were collecting their pick happily and the programme was going on smoothly.
