Hyderabad: The Telangana Government Junior Lecturers’ Association (TGJLA), while welcoming the decision to give promotion to teachers as junior lecturers on Tuesday, appealed to the Board of Intermediate Education to first take up transfers of junior lecturers ‘in the interest of natural justice’.

“After effecting transfers, promotions to teachers as junior lecturers should be given. This will do justice to junior lecturers, who are already working and to teachers, who are awaiting promotions as junior lecturers,” association president Md Ismail and other office-bearers said in a statement.

According to the statement, for long, the transfers have not been taken place in the department. But three years ago, transfers were effected for teachers, but not junior lecturers, who work in the same Ministry. “Owing to this, junior lecturers, principals and the non-teaching staff have been suffering for over eight years expecting comfortable postings by way of transfers,” they added.

The statement said, “Because of this stagnation, some are enjoying placements in cities with 30 per cent HRA and all educational facilities for their children whereas some are posted in remote rural areas without basic facilities, such as transport and education, for their children.”
