Hyderabad: For the first time, the State government will introduce the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in the Health Department in October.

According to the officials of the Health Department, the Union government was examining the State’s readiness to start new ventures and brought a framework called EoBD for the last two years.

In this connection, the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act will be implemented. Accordingly, the hospitals which have Ultrasound Scanning Machines and Ultrasound Scanning Centres will be registered. The PCPNDT Act is intended to prohibit sex determination tests on the foetus. “The use of such technology will be permitted only under certain conditions, by registering them and deterrent punishment would be provided for any violation of the Act,‘’ said the officials.

Across the State, there are around 3443 scanning centres registered under the Act and among these, Hyderabad tops with 1100 centres. With the EoBD, the Health Department has to make online verification of the applications. If they find any discrepancy, a mobile alert will be sent to the applicant. If the applicant requires permissions from two different departments, the line department has to forward to the other departments. After issuing temporary licence, the Health Department has to make physical inspection within one month.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Vakati Karuna said that the major purposes of EoBD in the Health Department was to encourage new entrepreneurs to come up in Telangana. “The motive is to make a simplified application format to start a business. Another purpose is to minimise the applicant making trips to the office,” she said.

Furthermore, the Commissioner said that the new hospitals and diagnostic centres would get licences online and there would be no pending cases of renewals and registrations. The details on scanning would be made online to make the functioning more transparent.
