Hyderabad: It is feared that the land registrations and official works in the Revenue offices will be affected because of three-month long land survey.

The land survey project of the State government is already causing delay of several works at many revenue offices across the city. Some Revenue offices have displayed notices on the office premises. Many services being offered by the Revenue Department are hit following the burden of land records survey. Many Revenue offices are not taking up any work pertaining to registrations besides issuing of different documents.

Many people have complained of difficulties in getting their works completed other than the land registrations which are completed when in need.

Documents such as income certificates, caste certificates, creamy layer certificates and a hoard of others cannot be obtained until the land survey is completed. Prakash Kumar, a resident of Asifnagar, said that he wanted to apply for an income certificate but officials in the revenue office were not accepting the applications and were citing land survey as an excuse. Many people are suffering due to this diktat which is stalling other activities of the revenue offices, he added.

State government wanted to resurrect the land records in the entire State and instructed the revenue department to focus on streamlining the records. Following this, the revenue offices in the city have put on notices that due to land survey works other works would not be carried out from September 15 to December 15 this year.

Jahangir Khan, a Photocopy shop owner in Vijayanagar Colony, said lack of business in the revenue office has affected other many works. “People come here for many documents but are going back after futile efforts since the revenue officials are denying any work other than land survey,” he said.

Some political outfits have protested on this issue and gave representations to the District Collector in this regard. It has been five days only and the stalling of works is causing much chaos and it may soon snowball in the coming days. A revenue official from the Balapur MRO office (upon anonymity) said there were instructions to focus on land survey records and stop other works. The official said complaints are soaring only within few days and there are no signs of government backing off from its decision right now.
