Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Tuesday directed the civic authorities to focus on complaints being received by various means in the back drop of heavy rains in the city.

In a review meeting with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and other line departments,the Minister asked the officials to ensure that public grievances are addressed at the earliest. He asked the officials to monitor the water logging points and vulnerable spots via CCTVs and address the woes on priority.

He said damaged roads must be repaired on time in order to ease out the traffic movement. He said electricity department would release Rs 4 lakh ex gratia to the family of the person who was electrocuted during rain and GHMC will give Rs 2 lakh ex gratia to the people deceased in wall collapse incident.

Water board officials have informed that they have alerted their staff to be on vigil for the next 72 hours in order to take up the emergency repair and restoration works across the city.

On the other hand, GHMC officials have informed that there would be constant vigilance in city via CCTV, GHMC call centre, MY GHMC App and other means. So far 140 monsoon emergency teams, 50 strategic teams swung into action.
