The Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) affiliated to the TRS has won Yellandu, Kothagudem and Bellampally corporate for the union elections in Singareni Collieries Coal Limited on Thursday and is leading in Manuguru, Srirampur, Mandamarri and Mancherial divisions.

Kothagudem: The Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) affiliated to the TRS has won Yellandu, Kothagudem and Bellampally corporate for the union elections in Singareni Collieries Coal Limited on Thursday and is leading in Manuguru, Srirampur, Mandamarri and Mancherial divisions.

The TBGKS won Yellandu division with a majority of 217 votes. While TBGKS polled 617 votes, the AITUC polled 400 and others 71 votes. Total votes polled here was 1098. In Kothagudem the TBGKS has won with a majority of 580 votes. While TBGKS polled 980 votes, the AITUC polled 400 votes. In Bellampally, TBGKS won with a majority of 174 votes.

With this, celebrations broke out at the counting station. Crackers were burst where counting is on and the entire area reverberated with slogans of Jai Telangana.

TRS leaders said that the SCCL workers had believed the assurances given by the Chief Minister and have once again proved that they are strongly behind the government.

The elections to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) unions which are being seen as a prelude to the 2019 general elections ended peacefully on Thursday with 94.93 per cent of the voters in 11 divisions across 92 polling centers exercising their franchise.

The SCCL authorities had made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the election. Nine polling stations were set up for the voting.

According to personnel manager Rajendra Kumar, a total of 69 officials and staff were appointed for the polling and counting duties. The counting began at 7 pm and the result is expected to be out by the midnight.

The polling, from 7 am to 5 pm, was peaceful. Long queues of SCCL workers were seen waiting to cast their ballots. Of the 52, 534 total voters in the Singareni corporation, 49,873 exercised their franchise. More votes were polled in the Kothagudem and Yellandu areas.

Of the 1,475 votes in the Singareni Corporation 1,415 (95.93 %) were polled. The voting percentage in Kothagudem was 96.77(3,592 of 3,712 votes polled), Yellandu 97.3 (1,079 of 1,112 votes polled), Manuguru 97.68 (2,816 of 2,883 votes polled), Ramagundam-I 94.18 (6,476 of 6,876 votes polled), Ramagundam-II 94.76 (4,000 of 4,221 votes polled), Ramagundam-III 93.24 (5004 of 5,360 votes polled), Bhupalapalli 94 (6,415 of 6,854 votes polled), Mandamarri 91.7 (6,112 of 6,429 votes polled), Srirampuram 94.92 (11,265 of 11,862 votes polled), Bellampalli 96.53 (1,683 of 1,743 votes polled).
