Hyderabad: Heavy rains lashed various parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad on Monday evening. Hyderabad city experienced flood-like situation with low-lying areas getting inundated.

Traffic jams were witnessed across the city. The worst-affected areas were LB Nagar, Uppal, Vanasthalipuram, Vidyanagar, Habsiguda, Jubilee Hills, Nagarjuna Circle, Banjara Hills Hayathnagar, Ameerpet and Kukatpally areas.

The Ramanthapur tank suffered a minor breach. Many areas in Ramanthapur specially those colonies near Peddacheruvu got submerged due to incessant rains. GHMC officials visited the area and inspected the rescue operations in the area.

According to weather office, heavy rains are forecast for the entire state for next two days particularly during evening hours with strong winds reaching 170 knots or more.

The districts that may witness thunderstorm are Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Medchal, Hyderabad, Siddipet, Yadadri and Nalgonda. In fact, rains would be witnessed on and off till October 15 not only in Telangana but also in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and interior parts of north
Karnataka.

The GHMC has asked citizens not to venture out unless it was absolutely necessary. It has kept all its service wings in a state of high alert to meet any emergency. People going home from office were the worst affected.

Heavy traffic jam was seen in Patancheru, Begumpet, Dundigal and Kukatpally till late in the night. Knee-deep water got accumulated in front of pension office in Nampally.
