Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) on Tuesday raided a meat exporting unit at Mangalapally village in Ibrahimpatnam and rescued eight child labourers trafficked from other States.

According to L B Nagar police, the Fresh and Frozen meat exporting unit, operating under Ibrahimpatnam police station limits, had engaged eight child labourers, all below 18 years. They were native of Assam, Odisha and Bihar States and were trafficked into the state for engaging as labourers.

During the raids, the police arrested the supervisor, Subani and took him into custody for violation of child rights along with another person named Patel. Six of those rescued were from Bihar. They were handed over to Ibrahimpatnam police station for further action.

Cases were registered under various sections of IPC and Section 79 of Juvenile Justice Act -2015 against the owners of the meat unit.
