Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday demanded a judicial probe into the alleged multi-crore scam involving BJP president Amit Shah’s son Jay Amitbhai Shah.

Speaking to media persons after leading a protest near Dr B R Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the growth in revenues by 16,000 times and loans by 4,000 per cent in Jay Shah’s company Temple Enterprise after the BJP came to power clearly indicated large scale corruption and a major scam. He pointed out that the Temple Enterprise was incorporated in 2004 with Jay Amitbhai Shah and Jitendra Shah listed as its directors.

As BJP president Amit Shah’s wife Sonal Shah also had a stake in the company, all the suspicious financial transactions involved the entire family of BJP’s national president, he said. “Therefore, I demand that the Centre constitute a Special Investigating Team (SIT), headed by two sitting judges of the Supreme Court, to conduct the probe. He also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi direct Amit Shah to resign from all posts to facilitate a free and fair inquiry into this ‘scam’.

Uttam raised doubts about the legitimacy of the Temple Enterprise Private Ltd that is owned by Jay Amitbhai Shah. He asked Amit Shah whether his son had any magic wand to increase the turnover up to Rs 80.5 crore. He said in the 2013-14 year, the Temple Enterprise did not own any fixed assets and had no inventories or stock. It also got an income tax refund of Rs 5,796. In the next financial year, it earned just Rs 50,000 as revenue. But in 2015-16, the firm’s revenues mysteriously rocketed to over Rs 80.5 crore - a growth of 16,000 times.

The TPCC chief said even as 12,000 farmers were committing suicide in the country every year under Narendra Modi’s government, cooperative banks, which were meant for farmer’s welfare, were giving loans to Prime Minister’s friends, ignoring farmers.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said while Narendra Modi talked about punishing money launderers and cracking down on Swiss Bank accounts, he remained silent when his own party president Amit Shah’s son Jay Amitbhai Shah’s income from foreign earnings rose from Rs 0 to Rs 51 crores in one year.

Amit Sham must explain the sources of this foreign money, he demanded. He said when the Centre was claiming closure of over 1 lakh shell companies and identification of about 37,000 companies for strong action, how did Jay Amitbhai Shah’s company, which looked like a shell company, escaped from this list.

Senior leaders D Sridhar Babu, Ponnala Laxmaiah, Danam Nagender, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Anil Kumar Yadav and others participated in the dharna.
