Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday held a meeting with ministers and officials on the public distribution system over the irregularities taking place and the state government earning a bad reputation despite spending Rs 6,500 crore every year on the PDS.

Hence, KCR is now planning to implement a fool-proof PDS policy to end the irregularities in the present system and benefit the poor.

Mentioning the Direct Benefit Transfer system which is being implemented in Chandigarh and Pondicherry, the officials briefed the Chief Minister regarding the money being directly deposited in the accounts of beneficiaries.
