Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said the State government will take all necessary steps to ensure that teachers in the private recognised schools complete their teacher's training as per the provisions laid by the Centre.

Responding to a question during the State Legislative Council here on Monday, he said 92,675 teachers are working in 11,262 recognised private schools in the State. However, only 3,905 teachers have gone under teachers training and, the Centre had allowed teachers with 50 per cent marks in intermediate, to complete their teacher's training course by March 31, 2019.

Accordingly, the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development had issued directions that the teachers, who did not finish their training course, can apply in Central Open School to complete their Diploma course in education before the due date. The State government is taking all necessary steps to ensure that the teachers complete their training as per the Centre’s directives. For this, the department had been collecting data of teachers working in the aided and un-aided schools and training will be provided to them, he added.

He said there is a ban on filling vacancies of teachers in the aided schools since 2004. However, the government is considering to remove the ban and fill the vacancies. A final decision will be taken by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on the same, he said.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to improving the enrolment of students in schools, Srihari said the government had introduced English medium schools in villages so as to strengthen the government schools. Providing transport facilities is also under consideration, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister clarified that steps have been taken to maintain student–teacher ratio as this rule has been made pre-requisite for gaining permissions to set up new schools.
