Hyderabad : A three-day workshop aimed at enhancing the use of information technology for learning and teaching concluded today.

The workshop titled “Professional Development Programme on Online Teaching, Learning and Assessment with Open Educational Resources, Education Technology Tools and Moodle MOOC Platform” was organized by Instructional Media Centre (IMC) of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU).

The other objective of the workshop was to improve the quality of education and raise Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER).

Prof. K. Srinivas, renowned academic at ICT, National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), spoke with the participants during various sessions of the workshop. In his valedictory session he said, “Use of ICT has totally changed the teaching and learning processes. It is going to bring about a ‘tsunami’ in the field of education”.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, on November 27. He underscored the new formats and said, “E-learning and Online Learning is the need of the hour. This workshop will help faculty members to learn the techniques of digital education and enhance the quality of education.”

Prof K. R. Iqbal Ahmad, Director DDE, said that the new systems will be helpful for teachers to impart students in class rooms as well as the distance learner. “Distance education is the only way to educate people on mass scale and ICT will boost it,” he added.

Rizwan Ahmad, Director IMC, said that ICT and social media have the potential to educate students in ways that are easily understood. He believed that the workshop was a milestone. Teachers will come forward to build courses on MOOC as Government of India is planning to promote online and ICT based education to meet the requirement of imparting education to masses.
