In the wake of recent encounter of Maoists in Gadchiroli of Maharashtra, elaborate security arrangements were made for the CM’ visit to the project sites at the remote areas in the district. Large numbers of police were deployed and check points were set up on the highways.
The helicopter, boarded by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, didn’t take off, creating tension to all. The CM boarded the helicopter to inspect the construction works of barrages and pump houses of Kaleshwaram project.
MPs Vinod Kumar, Balka Suman, chief secretary SP Singh, special chief secretary (irrigation) SK Joshi, TSGenco CMD D Prabhakar Rao, Bhupalpally District Collector A Murali, superintendent of police R Bhaskaran, additional secretary to the CM Smita Sabharwal and senior irrigation officials were present.
