New Delhi: Endowments Minister A Indra Karan Reddy has invited Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu for the upcoming Sammakka-Saarakka jatara popularly known as Medaram jatara.

Reddy met the Vice-President here on Wednesday and explained to him the prominence of the festival and the developmental works undertaken by the Telangana state government on the anti-congestion measures undertaken. Special Representative to Telangana Government S Venugopala Chari and TRS MPs -- G Nagesh, Prof Sitaram Naik and P Srinivas Reddy and accompanied him.

Talking to media persons he said that more than one crore tribals are expected to attend the festival. Keeping in view the pilgrim rush, the government has widened the roads and laid a four-lane way to avoid congestion. Two helipads had also been put in place so that the VIP movement would not hamper the pilgrims’ movement.

Reddy said that he would review the arrangements on January 18th along with Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari and Tribal Welfare Minister Ajmeera Chandulal.
