Sailu was a VRA, claims his wife
The mystery around the profession of O Sailu, who was killed in a road accident after coming under a sand lorry, continues as his wife Saiyamma claimed that her husband was a Village Revenue Assistant (VRA). She said he was assigned duty by the local Tahsildar and demanded that the government do justice to her family.

The Telangana Mass and Social Organisations Forum (T-MAS), which brought the family to the city, demanded that the government order an inquiry through a sitting judge, provide Rs 20 lakh compensation, provide land and also government job to a family member.
T-MAS leader Ramulu said Sailu was a VRA and had a duty badge on him, when he was killed by the sand lorry. It was a murder by sand mafia and to divert the attention, the officials and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders were trying to prove it as brick lorry, he said. The Pitlam Tahsildar had assigned duty to Sailu and he was performing his responsibilities as a VRA, he added. The government should respond on this as the family had lost a bread winner, he said.
Saiyamma said the Tahsildar assigns duties on rotation basis and it was the turn of her husband on Wednesday. “I do not want to get into an argument as to who had killed my husband. My fear is who will take care of my children? Government should come to the rescue of my family,” Saiyamma said.
She urged the government to provide assistance to her children Lavanya, studying in eighth standard, and Vithal studying in sixth standard.
T-MAS leader Sudha Bhaskar alleged that Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao’s comments stating that Sailu was not a VRA prove that there was a relation between the sand mafia and the government. He said Sailu had a badge and papers with the duties assigned.
The T-MAS leaders said they would approach the Human Rights Commission if the government fails to respond to their issue and also take up State-wide agitation demanding justice for the family.
