Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has asked people to question TRS Government over its failure to fulfill promises made in 2014 elections.
Huzurnagar : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has asked people to question TRS Government over its failure to fulfill promises made in 2014 elections.
Addressing a massive rally in Chintriyal village of Malareddy Gudem in his Huzurnagar constituency on Wednesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy exhorted people to grill the TRS leaders on their failure to deliver double bed rooms for poor, three acres of land for each Dalit family, 12% reservation for Muslims and ST and KG to PG Free education. He alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has cheated the people and no section of the society was happy with the performance of TRS Government. He said TRS Government has failed on all fronts and all sections, especially SCs, STs, BCs, Muslims, farmers, women, students and youth are waiting for elections to end TRS misrule in Telangana State.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party was fully prepared to face next elections and it has total clarity on what should be done for different sections of the society on immediate basis after coming to power. He said the next Congress Government would waive off crop loans upto Rs. 2 lakh. Further, a minimum guaranteed price would be given for all crops including Rs. 2,000 for paddy, Rs. 6,000 for cotton and Rs. 10,000 per quintal for chilli. The premium for crop insurance will also be paid by the State Government, he said.
The TPCC Chief said employment opportunities would be created for lakhs of youth in both government and private sectors and the jobless youth will be paid a monthly allowance of Rs. 3,000.
He said women's welfare has remained neglected under TRS regime and the next Congress Government would accord top priority to empowerment and growth of women. In addition to existing pensions, he promised that each member of all SHGs would be given a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000 under Abhya Hashtam Scheme. Services of nearly 4,200 staff working for Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERF) on contract will be regularised and the salary of about 15,600 Village Organisation Assistant (VOAs) will be increased from present Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 10,000.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also announced that dues amounting to Rs. 2,000 crore pending from the government towards interest subsidy towards bank loans taken by women SHGs would be cleared. He said each SHG will be permitted to get a bank loan of Rs. 10 lakh for which the interest will be paid by the government. He said the initiative will help about 70 lakh women including 52 lakh women associated with nearly 4.5 lakh SHGs in rural areas and 15 lakh women members of 1.5 lakh SHGs in urban areas.
Recalling his association with people of Chintriyal, Uttam Kumar Reddy said people of this village have supported him ever since he entered politics in 1994. He thanked the people of Chintriyal for their support which played a key role in all his electoral victories. As the PCC president, he said he would be covering about 10,000 villages in Telangana in election campaign.
During his visit, Uttam Kumar Reddy also inaugurated several developmental programmes. He also felicitated senior journalist K. Nageshwara Rao on getting a prestigious award.
