Dr Vasantha Kumari along with nursing students, medical staff, IMA doctors, formed human chain in front of the Mother and Child hospital grounds at the district government hospital.

Expressing concern over fall in sex ratio, she emphasised the importance of focussing attention on it. She said at present total female sex ratio is 823 females for 1,000 males. It was alarming, she said.

It is duty of intellectuals of the society to create awareness among the people, particularly in tribal, to ensure that there is female foeticide. In this programme, District Government Hospital Superintendent Dr Narsingrao, Doctors Gowri Sri, Hemalatha, Arundhathi, Rajeshwari , Leelavathi and others participated.
