The International Women’s Day was celebrated by the staff of Telangana State Rural Development Organisation and SERP women employees from various districts of Telangana with activee participation of women sarpanches and SHG members. Posami Basu, CEO of TSRD and SERP, lit the traditional  lamp to mark the inauguration.

Hyderabad: The International Women’s Day was celebrated by the staff of Telangana State Rural Development Organisation and SERP women employees from various districts of Telangana with activee participation of women sarpanches and SHG members. Posami Basu, CEO of TSRD and SERP, lit the traditional lamp to mark the inauguration.

Addressing the gathering, she advised women who have reached the top in their respective fields to share their experiences for the benefit of newcomers. Basu pointed out that many women were striving for the uplift of society even while working for betterment of their own families. Such women should be congratulated by everyone.

She stressed the importance of education in ensuring uplift of women, enabling them to take correct decisions. Both women and men should share their thoughts and views for successfully moving forward. She advocated the need for women to keep their surroundings clean and green and shunning use of plastic items.

Basu felicitated meritorious members of SHGs and women sarpanches active in rural development schemes. The women employees and staffers of SHGs presented dances and songs and participated in Rangoli competitions. Prizes were given to winners in various competitions organised to mark the day.

Products made by SHG were put on display-cum-sale at stalls inside TSRD. Joint director B Narendranath supervised the events ably assisted by women’s development and child welfare officer Kusama Madhuri and SERP officer Bharati.
