Hyderabad : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that S. Madhusudan Chary has failed both as MLA and also Speaker.

He was addressing a massive public meeting in Mogulapally in Bhupalpalli constituency on Tuesday night, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that he was elected as MLA for the first time in 1999 and has seen several Speakers of Assembly in the last 20 years in both TDP and Congress regimes. However, Madhusudan Chary has proved to be the most partial among all. He said a person holding the post of Speaker should be apolitical and avoid taking sides. He must give time and attention to all the members, including opposition MLAs. However, Madhusudan Chary has suppressed the voice of opposition parties. He alleged that Madhusudan Chary has brought utter disrespect to the post of Speaker.

Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out that while on his way to Bhupalpalli he has seen a shopping complex which is being constructed by the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). However, he said Madhusudan Chary has engraved his name on the complex. "Though it is common to name a public building after a big personality after his death, apparently for the first time, I have seen a building named after a living politician," he said.

While on his way to the meeting venue, the TPCC Chief, along with other Congress leaders visited the residence of a cotton farmer who committed suicide. The victim, Raghupati Mudiraj in Tirumulgheery village in Bhupalpalli constituency, took the extreme step as he was in huge debts loss of crop this season. In earlier season, he could not get remunerative prices for his chilli crop.

Making a mention about this suicide in his speech, Uttam Kumar Reddy said as the local MLA, Madhusudan Chary did not meet the family nor any member of ruling TRS or official even visit Raghupati's family at least to convey their condolences. He said that the TRS Government remained non-responsive to suicide by over 4,000 farmers across Telangana State and the administration remained inert.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the State Government has spent nearly Rs.5 lakh crore in the last four budgets, but it did not spend even Rs. 5 for procurement of crops or giving MSP to farmers. He promised that the next Congress Government would revive the entire agriculture sector by waiving off crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take, paying premium for crop insurance and ensuring payment of remunerative prices for all crops. He also explained various other schemes planned to implement when Congress party comes to power in next elections.

The meeting was originally scheduled at 6 pm. However, due to massive rally at Manthani and visit to cotton farmer’s house, the Congress leaders could reach the venue around 9 pm. Despite three hour delay, a huge crowd patiently waited at the venue and the meeting went on till about 11 PM.

The meeting, organised by Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, was also addressed by MLA Revanth Reddy, Seethakka and other leaders.
