The State government has enhanced the remuneration to the contract faculty and part-time lectures working in the 11 universities functioning under the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).
​Hyderabad: The State government has enhanced the remuneration to the contract faculty and part-time lectures working in the 11 universities functioning under the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE).
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari handed over the government orders to the representatives of the contract and part-time faculty associations at his home here on Wednesday.
Giving details of the government orders, Srihari said the State government is taking all necessary steps to strengthening the university education. As part of the same, it has also considered the recommendations made by the Expert Committee appointed to look into various issued related to the contract and part-time faculty. Among the other issues, the State government has given its nod to enhance remuneration of the contract and part-time faculty of the State universities in Telangana, he added.
Currently, candidates without NET, SET, SLET and Ph D in non-engineering, M Tech, M E and M Pharm for engineering streams are being paid Rs 21,600 per month. The committee has proposed an enhancement of 75 per cent on this minimum initial remuneration coming to Rs 37,800 per month. In addition to that, it has also recommended an additional three per cent hike based on the years of service.
Similarly, in case of candidates with NET, SET, SLET, Ph D and M Tech, M E, M Pharm have been paid Rs 24,840 per month. Following the recommendation of a 75 per cent of the hike by the committee, the candidates under this category would get Rs 43,470 per month. In addition to this, the committee recommended an additional annual hike of three per cent, making it Rs 44,770 per month to those who have completed one year of service.
Also, faculty having additional qualifications with Ph D in addition to NET, SET, SLET in the non-engineering stream and Ph D in addition to M E, M Tech, M Pharm in the engineering stream could be given an additional one-time enhancement of Rs 3,000 per year, he said.
Considering the services of the part-time lectures, Srihari said the committee recommended Rs 600 per period for theory classes from the Rs 475 and Rs 300 per clock hour for practical classes from 220. This is for the teachers without NET, SET, SLET, Ph D or M Tech, M E, M Pharm for engineering streams.
For those having NET, SET, SLET, Ph D or M Tech, M E and M Pharm in engineering streams the committee has recommended Rs 700 per period for theory classes and Rs 350 per clock hour for practical classes, he added.
The vice-chancellors and the registrar of the 11 State universities under the Administrative Control of the Higher Education Department were asked to take necessary action placing the recommendations in their executive councils for approval for payment of remuneration to the contract faculty, part-time teachers, working against budgeted, sanctioned and vacant posts in the universities, he added.
