Hyderabad: As part of country-wide efforts to become carbon neutral and energy self-reliant, the State Bank of India (SBI), Hyderabad Circle is installing rooftop solar panels across its 29 branches and offices in Telangana.

Announcing this on Wednesday, the bank officials said that these panels would produce a total capacity of 1,243 KW of solar energy and will save Rs 1.51 crore annually in terms cost of electricity supply.

Across the country, the Bank will be installing solar panels at 151 rooftop sites with a total capacity of 6.23 MW of energy, which will save Rs 30 crore in electricity supply costs annually.

The energy generated through these renewable sources is solely for captive use by Bank’s various offices and branches across the country, making them free of any carbon emission, added the officials.
