314 Social and Tribal Welfare Students Excel in IIT-JEE Mains, 2018
What is truly remarkable about Telangana social and tribal welfare residential students is their determination to excel in IIT JEE exams despite their humble family backgrounds. Keeping up their spirits high, as many as 179 social and 135 tribal welfare residential students qualified in the IIT-JEE Mains exam 2018, the results of which were announced on Monday.
Hyderabad : What is truly remarkable about Telangana social and tribal welfare residential students is their determination to excel in IIT JEE exams despite their humble family backgrounds. Keeping up their spirits high, as many as 179 social and 135 tribal welfare residential students qualified in the IIT-JEE Mains exam 2018, the results of which were announced on Monday.
Among the qualified this year are sons and daughters of daily-wage earners, agricultural laborers, masons, vegetable vendors and vulnerable primitive tribal communities. It is an outstanding achievement in itself that several students from vulnerable primitive tribal communities qualified in the exam despite their backwardness.
Thanks to the government of Telangana for establishing specialized Social and Tribal Welfare Residential Centres of Excellence IIT colleges, wherein intensive IIT coaching is provided to the meritorious SC/ST students on par with the private coaching institutions.
Secretary Dr RS Praveen Kumar congratulated the toppers and expressed happiness over the remarkable results. While thanking Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Secretary said, “The chief minister believes that no poor student in the state of Telangana should feel left behind because of poverty”. For the first time in the history of TSWREIS & TTWREIS, 314 students became eligible for JEE (Advanced), 2018. The entire credit goes to students and teachers for their hard work and dedication, he remarked.
The Secretary thanked the Minister for Scheduled Caste Development G. Jagadish Reddy and the Tribal welfare minister A. Chandulal for their support and vision.
