Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Dr K Laxman said that the verdict of Karnataka people is a slap on the face of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Laxman said that the verdict of the people in the Karnataka State Assembly elections had made it clear that the Telugu people in that State did not toe the line of the Chief Ministers of the Telugu States. Instead, they expressed their support to the developmental agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Expressing confidence that the BJP will form the government in Karnataka, he said that it is a turning point in the national politics belying the allegations against the party from the Opposition parties the people of Karnataka had expressed their support to BJP, he added.

Terming that Karnataka is the 'Gateway of South,’ he said it will have an impact on ensuing not only in the general elections in 2019 but, also have an impact on the assembly elections in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The four-year corruption-free government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his development agenda are yielding results making people extend their support to BJP.

While Naidu had asked people to support the Congress, K Chandrashekar Rao had asked the Telugu people to support JD(S). But, the results showed the Telugu people in Karnataka showed their place to the CMs of Telugu States, he added. However, people tried to instigate people in the name of religion and communities, the people had shown the Congress its place, he said.

This should also be an eye-opener for those who labelled the BJP as a North Indian party. He said that the party national president Amit Shah told him during his meeting on Wednesday that the party national leadership is now focusing on the general elections of 2019, besides, focusing on States of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Kerala.

As people in Telangana are also looking at the party, the party will lead people’s struggles against the TRS in the State to defeat both the pink brigade and the Congress to bring BJP into power.

Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya said that the Telugu people in Karnataka showed the Chief Ministers of AP and TS their place and extended their support to BJP. MLA G Kishan Reddy said the Goebbels campaign of Telugu Chief Minister did not work against BJP.

In particular, Telugu people in Karnataka following the anti-Congress agenda of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N T Rama Rao have debunked the call given by the AP Chief Minister to vote for the Congress, he said. Earlier, the party leaders and cadre gathered in huge numbers and celebrated the elections results.
