Hyderabad: Telangana’s chilled beer has been quenching the thirst of guzzlers in neighboring Andhra Pradesh this summer season. About 10 lakh cases of beer is being supplied to AP every month from Telangana breweries since March.

Thanks to the State government's endeavour in supplying uninterrupted power to the industry, breweries in the T-State are not only meeting the growing demand for beer in Telangana, but also in the neighbouring State too.

Breweries Association Secretary M Kameshwara Rao said that six breweries located in Greater Hyderabad and Medak district were fully functional with the spiralling demand for beer in both the Telugu-speaking States.

The AP Breweries Corporation had requested its Telangana counterpart for the supply of beer to meet the demand in the summer. In March alone, 8 lakh cases of beer were supplied and 10 lakh cases each in April and May to AP. (Each case contains 12 bottles weighing 650 ML each).

The increased beer production with the availability of quality power and required water resources helped breweries to generate additional revenue by exporting it to Andhra.

The increased demand for beer has come as a big succour to the breweries which incurred losses during winter and rainy season due to low consumption of the fermented brew. The demand for beer supply from the neighbouring State has been increasing every year as the youth developed the habit of consuming chilled beverage.

While, Telangana registered highest sale of beer in the country in April. Fifty-four lakh cases of beer have been sold last month. Till Monday, 45 lakh cases of beer have already been consumed and the total sale of beer is expected to cross 55 lakh cases this month as there is no indication of respite from raising temperatures till June first week. The Excise officials said that arrangements were made to supply the required cases of beer to all licensed liquor shops every day.
