Hyderabad: After providing financial assistance to farmers through the Rythu Bandhu Scheme, the State government has decided to lay emphasis on promoting the farming activity in a scientific manner and make it a profitable profession.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday held a meeting with members of Farmer Coordination Committees and made suggestions to improve farm productivity through educating tillers about crop pattern in every agriculture season.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to educate farmers on cropping pattern in accordance with the demand. He asserted that farmers having agricultural lands in and around towns and cities must prefer to grow vegetables to meet demands for veggies. This will benefit both the farmer and the consumer.

Depending on the climatic conditions, soil type, wind speed, rainfall and temperatures, the entire land in State will be divided into various crop colonies by agriculture scientists.

In accordance with this division, the farmers should go for cropping pattern and accordingly, they need to be educated. The Chief Minister further instructed the officials to provide skills to farmers that help increase the productivity. The officials were also asked to visit Israel to study modern techniques in farming activity.

“In Israel, the agriculture is profitable as the productivity is more than anywhere in the world. The returns are also more because the farmers adopted modern agriculture techniques,” the Chief Minister noted.

Stating that the formation of Farmer Coordination Committees helped in bringing the farming activity into an organised sector, the Chief Minister said that once the water, round-the-clock power, investment and minimum support price came into reality, the financial condition of the farmers would be stabilised permanently.
