Hyderabad: Imparting a new thrust to his initiative of forming a federal front before 2019 elections, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to hold informal talks with leaders of regional parties and discuss the present political trends at national level during his stay in New Delhi.

KCR, who left for Delhi by special flight on Thursday afternoon, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday afternoon and seek the PM’s help in resolving long-pending issues concerning the state.

Party sources said that apart from meeting the PM and other Union ministers on Telangana issues, KCR will also meet leaders of some political parties who are available in the nation’s capital. The TRS supremo is planning to meet the heads of some regional parties mainly SP, BSP, NCP and left parties.

“KCR is keen to elicit the views of all non-BJP and non-Congress leaders about his plan to launch federal front -- an alternative to BJP and Congress – during his Delhi visit,” a TRS MP said.

The TRS leader has already met West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Karnataka CM HD Kumara Swami, JD(S) leader and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and DMK leader, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and former Uttar Pradesh CM and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav and sought their support to the proposed a new political front.

The TRS MPs have already been asked to prepare the list of leaders available in the nation’s capital during the TRS chief’s stay in Delhi. “The TRS chief will finalise his plan of action whether to proceed forward in floating federal front or take a backseat after seeking suggestions and opinions from various like-minded party leaders,” a senior leader said.

It may be mentioned here that KCR was going slow in the formation of federal front after the Karnataka Assembly election in which the BJP emerged single largest party. KCR extended support the JD(S) which stood third position in winning the seats. However, Congress and Janata Dal succeeded in preventing the single largest saffron party from forming the government.
