Karimnagar: Finance Minister E Rajender said that Karimnagar district has become the grain bowl of the Telangana State. Inaugurating CC Road near Bommakal on Wednesday, he said that Telangana has become number one State in the country by introducing umpteen number of schemes for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden.

“Telangana is forging ahead in terms of economic development. Schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, which provides agriculture investment assistance of Rs 8,000 per acre per annum, and the upcoming Rythu Bima that covers the life insurance of all the farmers are trend setters in the country,” Rajender said.

He said the TRS government has so far constructed godowns of 18 lakh metric tonnes capacity to assist the farmers, who hitherto depended on private godowns. The erstwhile Karimnagar districts will soon turn into agriculture hub with a host of irrigation projects – Mid Manair, Yellampally and Kaleshwaram – lined up, he said.

“Telangana Warehousing Corporation (TWC) ranked number one with 100 per cent occupancy rate in the country. It’s an achievement,” said TWC Chairman Mandula Samuel. MPP Vasala Ramesh, Bommakal sarpanch Lalitha and Peddapally district library samstha chairman Raghuveer Singh were among others present.
