Hyderabad: Weather turned pleasant in entire Telangana on Saturday as the Southwest Monsoon which entered the state in June second week became active. The state witnessed moderate to heavy rains in many parts and some parts received very heavy rains under the influence of the monsoon. The state capital witnessed drizzling at many places and clouds are engulfed the entire city since morning.
The officials of the Indian Meteorological Department predicted that all the state will be cloudy, and most places will receive good rains in the next 24 hours. The department has also alerted the government about the inundation of low-lying areas
The officials said rain with gales occurred in Adilabad district. Highest rainfall was registered at Itchoda with 14 cm and Indravelli and Jainadh mandals (13cm) rainfall. Reports said the projects under river Krishna and Godavari are also receiving good inflows with continuous downpour in the upper riparian states in the last 24 hours.
Flood intensity increased to Penganga at Venatraopet in Sirupur (T) mandal in Komuram Bheem Asifabad district. Heavy water was flowing into Penganga due to heavy rains in upper areas. Lonavelli, Parigama, Tonekinni, Venkatraopet areas will be inundated due to heavy rains, the officials said.
In Khammam district, Karepalli, Kamepalli, Sathupalli, Yellandu, Manuguru, Burgampadu, Raghunathapalem and Madhira mandals were receiving moderate rain.
Civic authorities in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and other corporations and local bodies are taking necessary steps to prevent rain-related damage.
