Municipal Administration Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar on Wednesday inspected the works in Yousufguda, Srinagar Colony and SR Nagar localities and issued instructions to the officials.

He asked them to take up a special drive to ensure that the debris on the footpaths is cleared. Beautification of open spaces abutting main roads should be taken up, he added. He asked the HRDC Chief Engineer Mohan Naik to identify major points on the road where pedestrian crossing is required.

The MAUD Principal Secretary said that the gas godowns situated in the residential areas in the city would be relocated to a distant place after giving notices to the agencies.

Arvind Kumar spotted one such godown in Srinagar Colony on Wednesday and asked the GHMC officials to issue notices to the agency for cancelling their trade licence. He said that a gas godown in a dense residential area poses a real danger to the people living in the neighbourhood.
