Hyderabad: Here is a piece of good news for unreserved rail users. The South Central Railway (SCR) will be launching Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile application that would be rolled out from the midnight of July 16, 2018 over SCR jurisdiction.

The new app is being touted as a game changer as passengers would no longer have to wait in long queues at railway stations and would be able to buy tickets using the UTS app. The only rider is that passengers would not be able to book a ticket within 15 metres from the railway station and tracks and cannot cancel paperless ticket.

SCR general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said, “This feature has a safety measure, and the app has been developed to make it easy for passengers. Paperless tickets cannot be booked in the geo-fenced area.” The services of UTS app include booking of suburban/ non-suburban tickets, issue/renew season ticket, book platform tickets and recharge R-Wallet.

The mobile app is available on Google play Store for downloading on Andorid phones; iStore on iPhones; OVI Store on Windows phone. The app is available in 554 UTS stations over SCR to facilitate the users. The users can create Railway Wallet (R-Wallet) and avail 5 per cent bonus on every recharge to the Wallet.

The users can also opt for printed ticket by booking on the mobile app, which will be delivered at the counters or ATVMs/Co-TVMs available on station premises on submission of the booking code along with mobile number. Tickets cannot be forwarded to the other mobile users and it changes the background colour on daily basis, at the same time scrolling text on ticket and QR Code also features to avoid misuse.
