Hanamkonda: It’s time for the leaders and cadres to put up a concerted effort to turn the tables on BJP at the Centre and the TRS in the State, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary sSrinvasan Krishnanaid.

Srinivasan is one among the three AICC secretaries – Saleem Ahmed and N S Bose Raju, appointed to assist the in-charge Secretary for Telangana affairs RC Khuntia in reviving the party’s fortunes in the 2019 elections. He on Tuesday said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao not only failed to fulfil his election promises but also pushed the State into debt trap with his anti-people policies.

“It was Congress that gave Telangana and not the TRS as claimed by its chief KCR,” he said and told the Congress leaders and cadres to focus on strengthening party’s base at booth and mandal levels. If there are any issues, within four walls the leaders can resolve them instead of taking to streets, he said.

Time has come for the cadres to show their commitment to make AICC President Rahul Gandhi’s dream happen, he said. Rahulji will meet directly, if any Congress leader motivates 5,000 people to join the Shakti App of the party, he said. Earlier, he held constituency-wise meetings with the leaders and elicited their opinion in regard with the strengthening of the party.

Srinivasan said that his today’s meeting with the cadres was not to decide the candidates for the next year’s elections. It was purely focused on party strengthening issue, he added. It’s learnt that the AICC secretary will visit again in the August to have another round of meetings with the leaders and cadres.

Barring a few altercations, the meeting went on peacefully, the leaders said, who closeted with Srinivasan.MP Nandi Yellaiah, Warangal district president Nayini Rajender Reddy, MLA Donti Madhava Reddy, senior leaders Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, Errabelli Swarna, Kondeti Sridhar, Vem Narender Reddy, B Arogyam, Namindla Srinivas, EV Srinivas, Katla Srinivas, Rajanala Srihari and S Rajaiah were among scores of leaders present.
