Bhupalpally: Excursions provide direct source of knowledge and provide the students with first-hand information, District Collector D Amoy Kumar said, directing the officials of the education department to plan accordingly.

Speaking at a review meeting here on Wednesday, he said that onus is on officials to provide an opportunity to the student to gain knowledge about the environment.

“Students become interested in the exploration of their environment, besides developing a love towards nature,” the Collector said. He directed the officials to make arrangements to take around the SSC students on Tuesdays and Fridays so that they could learn by watching and exploring the nature.

He said that excursions will be managed by the forest department’s ecotourism programme. The Collector told the officials to make students gain knowledge about the importance of Swachh Bharat and avoiding plastics. DFO T Ravi Kiran and DEO Srinivas Reddy were among others present.
