Penpahad (Suryapet): The Penpahad police on Wednesday arrested one person and seized 240 sheep distributed under subsidised sheep distribution scheme. The police intercepted a person when he herded the sheep from Durajpally under Chivemla mandal to Anantharam crossroads and took him into custody.

According to Penpahad sub-inspector of police K T Mallesh, Nagunaik, native of Miryalguda, had purchased 240 subsidised sheep from a group of beneficiaries in Durajpally under Chivemla mandal for Rs 75,000 per unit.

Acting on a tip-off, Penpahad police station sub-inspector along with his staff took Nagunaik into custody and seized the sheep he was herding. Officials of Animal Husbandry confided that the the sheep seized were those distributed under subsidised sheep distribution scheme. The police shifted the sheep to the police station.
