KCR Cabinet nod to allot land at Rs 100 per sq yd

Hyderabad: The state cabinet, which met here on Friday, approved allotment of land to political parties at Rs 100 per square yard in the district headquarters for construction of party offices.
At the cabinet, the proposal of the TRS to construct offices in the district headquarters was also approved. The party offices will be exempted from payment of property tax. The cabinet cleared proposals for taking up census of BC population in the state immediately, purchase of 11,577 vehicles for police department, establishment of 19 fire service stations.
Allotment of 600 square yards of land in Shaikpet village in Hyderabad district for the family of former minister A Madhava Reddy, who was killed in Maoist triggered mine blast in the past.
The cabinet also approved examining the possibilities of providing mid-day meals to junior college students. Among other decisions, the cabinet approved farmers’ insurance scheme to be launched on August 15 in the state.
Transfer of powers to special officers in all gram panchayats as the term of the elected local bodies will come to an end on July 30, creation of new panchayats and municipalities and the appointment of 9,200 panchayat secretaries were among the important decisions taken in the seven-hour long cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The cabinet also discussed possible early elections where KCR shared his views on facing the polls by the end of this year. The ministers reportedly informed KCR that the TRS will win elections whenever they are held.
They explained the TRS chief that people are happy with the government as it extended a number of benefits to them. The Chief Minister also discussed the status of Mission Bhagiratha works under which safe drinking water will be supplied to all villages from August 14 midnight.
The arrangements for the launch of Kanti Velugu programme for conduct of eye tests for all the people in the state from Independence Day also came up for discussion. Source said that the land allocation for various organisations and financial support to the irrigation project from banks were approved.
Source said that KCR sought feedback from the ministers on the reach of the welfare schemes and the people’s support to his government. The proposal for the establishment of 190 BC welfare residential schools, raising Rs 1,000 crore as loan National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for financing programmes to be taken up by the Animal Husbandry department and disbursement of financial help to the unemployed youth were also cleared at the meeting.
